1. To get your first order, send your client a sample illustration as close as possible to what the client is looking for.

2. Always ask what type of file the client needs: vector or bitmap. Also ask about the size of the file.

3. When you negotiate a project deadline, always take more time. If you do your work early, the client will appreciate it, if not, you won’t meet their expectations.

7. Don’t be afraid to ask the client questions, clarify requirements and ask their wishes. Your task is to understand as best as possible what the client needs and do it.

8. Analyze the reviews that other freelancers have left for your potential client. If there are a lot of negative reviews, it is better not to work with this client, you will save your time and mental health. It is better to work on improving your portfolio.

9. Offer to do a test task specially for the client’s project if you don’t have a suitable illustration example.

10. Share your joy and inspiration from the received contract, be sincere and open in communication. Remember, your client is a real person like you. So don’t forget to develop your soft skills as well.
